Catalog sources and methodology
How to read MuseCards release counts, source confidence, import dates, card coverage, and marketplace history.
Release evidence and confidence
Product pages, published checklists, and imported marketplace records serve different purposes. An official product URL supports release information; a marketplace listing supports what that source recorded. Confidence and review flags are catalog metadata, not independent certification. Check the linked source when a detail matters.
Announced designs versus cataloged cards
Announced designs are a publisher's stated composition. Individually cataloged cards are separate records identified in this archive. Parallel versions, variants, sets, and checklist sheets can use different counting units. These totals should not be treated as interchangeable, and a published group count does not establish a complete card-by-card checklist.
Imports are not human reviews
A catalog import date records an ingestion event. It does not prove that a person reviewed every field, that a source is still online, or that marketplace availability is current. MuseCards does not label an import or database update as a last-reviewed date.
Marketplace evidence and exclusions
Sold records and active asking prices are displayed separately. A source-reported sale is not a current offer or a guaranteed price. Bundle contents, matching confidence, condition, and coverage affect comparisons. Collector benchmarks apply their own displayed eligibility rules; review the methodology on each index before interpreting its movement.
Currency and dates
Source currencies and timestamps are retained where supplied. Display-currency conversions currently use a fixed reference table, not live exchange rates or historical settlement rates. Converted amounts are approximate comparisons. Marketplace dates use the recorded source timezone where available; date-only release announcements should be read as calendar dates.
Coverage and access
Public history windows, account restrictions, unavailable sources, and media settings can limit what is visible. Missing evidence is not evidence of no sales. Restricted media and source links may be withheld under the current access rules; the archive does not reconstruct withheld URLs.
Structured data
Machine-readable descriptions identify the archive, publisher, person, release, and breadcrumb trail. Historical prices are not represented as current product offers. No ratings, availability, or review dates are invented to obtain a search feature.
